THE HONEYMOON

Unfortunately, circumstances did not allow my husband and me to take a honeymoon trip after our lovely wedding. We were young and poor. Luckily for us, it really was not a time when fancy honeymoons were taken by many. So, it really was not a big deal.

Times have really changed since the earlier days. Earlier in history the groom would steal his bride away to a secrete place. This was done so that family and friends could not find them. What a great way to have some alone time together, right?

While the newlyweds were in hiding they would drink mead; a wine made from honey. Their intention was to make their relationship more romantic and to grow their love. The honeymoon would last the length of one moon phase. This is how the word "Honeymoon" was born.

The current day honeymoon does not typically last as long. Most couples still spend time together, celebrating being newlyweds. It could be as simple as a stay vacation, or a more elegant vacation like going to a fancy resort or cruise. There are so many options today and a variation in prices. It is just a matter of what your interests are and how much you can afford.

Maybe I will get to go on my "Honeymoon" for my 30th anniversary? I guess time will tell....It is just around the corner... Wish me luck!!

What Type of Wedding Dress Would You Have Worn?

I do not know about you, but I have thought for years the traditional wedding dress that we see nowadays, was always part of the wedding tradition. How shallow were my thoughts?

Apparently, the idea of wearing a white wedding dress did not come about until years after the "Middle Ages". In the earlier years the bride was known to wear a nice outfit. Maybe here Sunday best!

In Europe the bride often wore red. What a great color! I could see myself wearing that. I love red...

Other colors such as blue and green were worn too. They had a symbolic meaning for the bride to be. Blue stood for constancy, while green was an indication of youth.

As time went on the bride began to wear white. Since white is clean and thought to be pure, a white dress would be looked at as a sign of purity. Brides that were not virgins or whom had children already, could be found to wear ivory or off-white instead. It was frowned upon if they wore white.

I am so glad that as time has continued on we are now open to brides wearing white, even if it is going to be a second marriage. It really does not seem to matter anymore. A white dress today is merely a wedding symbol.

Today people are more open to unique items and not so concerned about the traditional ones. It is more important to create the wedding day which tells your story. Let your day be a great reflection of you.

DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE WEDDING BOUQUET?

Today the bride's bouquet can be created from a variety of items. Some are the traditional cut flower, some are artificial, and others may carry a bouquet that is created with a mixture of vintage brooches... I am certain there are many other types of bouquets that I have not mentioned. These are just a few that come to me right off the top of my head.

If you were getting married back in the times of the ancient Greeks and Romans, you would find the bouquet to be created from a mixture of herbs and maybe even a bit of grains. Garlic often was used in this lovely creation. I love garlic, but I am certain I would not want that in my wedding bouquet. The mixture of herbs and grains often did not have the most pleasant of odors. However, the thought behind carrying this bouquet, was to scare off any evil spirits that might have been lurking about. If this item was a part of your ceremony you were most certain of have a bountiful union.

If you were getting married in the ancient Poland, the groom could rest assured that his bride would be sweet and mellow. It was believed that a little sprinkle of sugar on the bride's bouquet, would control her temper. Wouldn't that be nice if that's all it would take?

Is a KISS just a Kiss?

I think it is kind of fun to learn a little about the past, and the reasons why some things are the way they are. Wedding traditions are definitely an area of interest for me. I often wonder where some of the customs originated.

Lets speak a little about the KISS. This is often the romantic part of the wedding ceremony, and often a time when people will clap or make more noise than the did through the earlier part of the ceremony. Why is it a part of the ceremony?

The kiss has been a part of a variety of culture's wedding ceremonies for many years. It typically takes place toward the end of the ceremony, almost as if it seals the deal. For many in the past it has been believed that the couple exchanges part of their spirit and sole with this kiss. Not sure how I feel about that, but it's a fun thought.

So, is a KISS just a kiss? I would love to hear your thoughts!

FUN WEDDING FACTS

I have been trying to figure out a way to spice up my blog....I think a great way will be to search and find fun wedding facts to share..... I'd also love to offer spots to any wedding vendors who might like to write a post to. This could be anything from advice to sharing experiences they have had....

As everyone knows, the wedding cake is a very important part of the reception. Many will spend hours and hours selecting the perfect cake. The amount being spent on this item can range from a few hundred dollars to several....It just depends on the importance it plays and how large your wallet is!

Just imagine this, you are dressed beautifully with your hair and makeup just right. The cake portion of your reception is approaching, and all you can think of is how you are going to look afterwards..... Rightfully so, I might add.... If you were a bride back in the Ancient Romans time you may have just felt this way. The reason being is, the wedding cake was about to be broken over your head to symbolize your fertility!! Wow! All I worried about was my face having a little cake on it after that part of my reception!!

I am glad that is not a common tradition in our wedding ceremonies today. I wonder if that is still practiced somewhere in the world today?

My Painting Side

I love to paint and my style is continuing grow and change. I am always looking for new and different items to paint. I really enjoy painting on walls, but really do not have the time to do that much anymore. Little things are best for me at this point.

I have spent a lot of time painting glassware for events and weddings. I wanted something different. Canvas is okay, but so many people paint on that. Also, many like to have their canvases framed.

One night while I was sleeping I came up with the idea of painting on the glass of a frame. Best of both worlds really, you have the frame and a great painting space. You can sit the painting on a desk or shelf, or hang it on the wall.Anyway, I created this painting for a good friend of mine. She really likes palm trees. I figured why not through in a little beach!!Enjoy.....Amy

I read a great article today from one of the wedding/bridal sites I belong to. What great advice was shared in this little article. Much of wish I could implement in my own business.

It is just amazing the difference between some of my customers as opposed to others. I find it really hard to please some, while others are so grateful for what you do, and truly appreciate your services. Many today are so used to the fast service, sweat shop creations, they really do not understand what it takes to make something handmade. The quality also, is often so much better.....

The basic idea shared in the article I read is to find customers that truly fit you and your business. If you are stressed out by them and not enjoying what you do, they are not a great fit. If you are doing what you love, you should not feel drained after only a few hours of work. Time flies by when you are doing what you love. It does not feel like work.

You may find the need to raise your prices to eliminate some of the penny pincher, picky people you are currently working with. You may find customers who value your time and effort when you do this. They realize the importance of what you do and are not trying to get something for nothing...

This is some food for thought. Just need to figure out how to work it in to my own business.

I love the idea of Steampunk and decided to give my hand at trying to create a bridal hanger version. I really like the way it turned out, however it took so much work....A crazy amount of time. Each part had to be painted and then allow for drying time. So, with that being said I think it best that I move on to another idea.Something that might still qualify, but less time consuming...Stay tuned for that..Coming soon.....!!!

Anyway, I decide to add some wire to it and discount the price to $10.00. It is a nice hanger and didn't want to waste it. It will make a lovely hanger for any bride to be. I am working on something new to offer on my site. I love the look of altered tshirts and find this is a great way to breathe new life in to something old, as well as creating designs out of new tshirts. The sky is the limit.

I plan to organize a workshop for those who would like to learn how to do this and create items for themselves or for gifts. With the holidays coming up, this is a great way to keep your expense down and provide a nice gift to those on your Christmas list.

There are many things that you can do to a shirt from cutting the neck, sleeves, and around the bottom. If you cut off a little from the sleeves the leftover piece can actually be used as a headband. It is great to use when you are washing your face or going out. You can even make a bracelet from that piece.

Leftovers from the bottom of your tshirt can be turned in to a swanky necklace. What a conversation piece you will have around your neck. You will be the envy of many.

There are many other projects that can be created from the leftovers. The altered tshirts are great not only for teens, but adults; women or men, and even children. Actually, children can get in on the altered action too. What a great way to teach them young how to be frugal.

If you have an interest in learning more, please let me know. I plan to put videos on Youtube as well as offering classes locally. I eventually hope to list my creations on my site too.

One other thing to consider when you are thinking about altered tshirts, what a fun activity to do with your friends for a "Ladies Night Out". This could even be a nice activity for an older child's birthday party. Great party favors will be made out of these shirts.

It was a year ago today that I had to say goodbye to one of the most loyal pets, and best friends a person could have, Eddie. Although time has passed, there is not a day that goes by that thoughts of him are not present. He definitely has been the hardest pet for me to get over his loss.

There will always be a special place in my heart for him.

I am the founder and creator of the original custom personalized wire wood bridal hangers. Seems as though someone new is entering the selling arena each day. With competition being so high, I keep trying to come up with new ideas to stay ahead of my competition...

It is important to not only keep new ideas coming, but to continue to offer a great product. That can really set you a part from the rest. The wire we started off with is strong, commercial strength wire. We pride ourselves in offering wire writing that is clean and easy to read.

My newest addition are curved wooden hangers. They are very pretty, adding more appeal to your wedding photos. Currently, I have walnut and white wooden hangers available. If they start selling, I plan to add black and natural wood hangers in this design too.

I have been working hard to create a few new items for my store. I would like to get back in to selling painted glassware again. I have just listed a bride and groom themed champagne glass set. I am planning to add some for the bridal party too.

My "Ready to Go" hangers seem to sell well too. I recently received paint from a new product line that will be hitting the stores the end of this month. I decided to paint up some of my hangers with these new colors. I figured they might make fun hangers for the <3 I do <3 and <3 Bride <3 sayings. I just listed a few today...

What's New?

It seems I have not entered anything recently here on my blog. I have had every intention of posting more regularly. I guess things have been crazy and have taken me away from it. I promise to try to do better!

I have not only been busy working on hangers, but on some new ideas I have come up with. Yep, that's right. A creative brain never rests, or at least that is how it seems. I often come up with ideas while I sleep. Many have told me I need a tablet beside my bed to write the ideas down, but have yet to get one. I fear my dogs will eat the pen or pencil I use and shred the paper. They are so much help, you see....

I recently created Cd Flowers with different designs on them for weddings. These can be sold individually or as a bouquet. They would make nice keepsakes for after the day. Place them in a nice vase and you have a decorative bouquet that will last for years to come. They also will make unique decorations for your wedding reception tables, or even could be used in place of name cards for your seating arrangements.

I am working on getting them listed in my Etsy shop too.....

Out with traditional and in with the new. Here are my picks for today from the Etsy Wedding Showcase. Handmade weddings can really make your day!

This lovely mailbox can actually be used as a real mailbox after your wedding day. What a cute and unique card holder this would be. What a neat idea.

I must say this is something I have never seen. A shoe has been used to hold this floral design. What an awesome centerpiece this would be.

How comfortable this robe looks. Imagine getting out of the hot tub, bath tub, or shower and be able to snuggle up in one of these nice robes. This robe is monogrammed too. What a great way to relax and end the day.

There are so many unique items in the Etsy Wedding Showcase today. I actually consider the items I have picked, as the catches of the day. If you want to make your special day unique, buying handmade is a great way to do just that.

These chalkboards could be used to tell guests where they need to be. They could be used as favors, or even neat to have them in different places for your guests to write something special for you to read!

Unique Items for your Wedding

You really do not have to pay a lot of money, or really go too far to get special items for your wedding day. If you want a wedding that speaks about who you are, you are at the right place!

Why settle for the old boring signature book that is at the back of the church when you walk in? This lovely tree will not only be a great place to have your guest sign, but an awesome piece of artwork to hang in your home. I can see this being a unique keepsake to have for years to come.

Still in need for flowers in your wedding? I had to take a second look at these, as I thought they were real! Lovely silk flowers can really be nice and almost look real. You are not throwing your money down the drain by buying the real ones, that will only last a few days. These too can make great keepsakes.

I realize you probably have been busy working out the details for your big day. However, do not forget to take care of yourself too! Would not a clutch like this one add to your special dress? You will want to be able to touch up your makeup and lipstick throughout the day. Remember, you will be the center of all the photos that are taken that day!

Decorating the Nest

Wouldn't this design be pretty in a bedroom? It is a great way to bring a few colors together in your room. You can add a little touch of softness by adding flowers or vines, or any type of design where the two colors meet.

You can start this project a couple different ways. You can select one of the colors to paint over the entire walls that will be receiving this design. The other option would be to paint the top color first, allowing that to dry. After that has dried, go back and tap on the painted side where the paint will meet. Painting the second color on the wall.

You will need good painters tape, measuring tape, level,and pencil when you begin. I recommend using the paint out on the market which has the added product to prevent leakage under the tape. It is well worth the extra money.

So, you will begin by starting with blank walls. The sky is the limit when you have plain walls to begin with. It is so much fun to take walls like this and color and interest to them.

You need to decide how far you want the top color to come down on your walls. It is really a matter of what your preference is. You may want it to be like a border around the top, come down a third of the way, or meet halfway.

You will begin by measuring from the ceiling down. Make a light pencil mark. Use a level and keep marking and measuring around the entire room.

Once you have all of the measuring and marking finished, you will need to go back and apply the painters tape. Make sure you are lining it up with your pencil marks. Make sure you rub over to ensure it is down right. This will help keep paint from seeping underneath it. Also, when you are painting, my sure you paint in the direction of going away from the tape. This helps too.

Begin by trimming your walls. After you trim then proceed to rolling on the paint. Remembering to paint in the direction heading away from the tape. Once you have completed the top of the wall color, remove the painters tape. It is best to remove prior to the paint drying. Pulling the tape up and away from the ways to keep from getting paint on the walls.

Once the top paint has dried fully, go back and apply painters tape on the freshly painted side. Not it is time to paint the lower part of the walls. Once again, remove the painters tape when you are finished painting.

I chose to freehand paint this flower and leaf theme. You can use stencils, other designs, or vines. It is really up to you and what the theme of your room is going to be. Make it yours!

This is all it takes to transform a room for very little money. Take a look at the other designs, colors, and items that you have already. Used these items to create your theme.

Decorating the Nest

In this day and age of people being out of work and the economy being tight, it is nice to be able to decorate your nest on a budget. For many this may be the first time you have been out on your own. While for others this may just be a continuation of living out on your own.

Whether you are going to be starting out your new life as husband and wife in a new place, or you are going to continue living together in the same place, it is always nice to learn new ways to make your place your own. Put a little of your personality in to the style of your home. You do not have to spend a fortune to create a warm and inviting place to hang out.

One of my favorite ways to decorate is with paint. This is an affordable way to make such a big statement in any room of your home. Keeping in mind, if you do not like it when you are finished, all you have to do is paint over it... Pretty easy, right?

One of my favorite techniques to use is called "Color Washing". It works best if you are using 100% acrylic paint on the walls. I recommend applying the wash over the top of flat paint. Some people will choose to use a glaze, however I choose a coordinating color with the base paint, buy it in a semi-gloss sheen, and just add water to it.

I typically have a 50/50 mix. I will have the equal parts of paint and water mixed together. As you are painting, if the consistency gets thick, just add more water to the mixture.

I start at one corner of the room and move around it in one directions. I just use lint free cloths and literally place the rag in to the paint/water mixture. Squeeze out the excess water and do a washing motion on the wall, just like you are really washing it. You need to move randomly on the wall from top to bottom and over. Move around to it so you are not creating a precise pattern.

The pictures on here are samples of some different techniques that I did to create photo backgrounds for my hangers. I plan to actually do different examples of painting techniques and step by step directions so that you may try them at home!

There are many items around your house that can be used to either apply the paint or once the paint is applied, remove it creating neat designs and patterns. Do not be afraid to play with paint and create your own style and designs. I recommend doing samples boards before moving on to your walls.

I really enjoy so many of the wonderful items there are today for weddings. Back in the day when I got married, it was pretty much the same old traditional stuff. No too much could be done to make your wedding truly different from the rest.

I really tried to by wearing a hat instead of the traditional veil. I also had artificial flowers which were placed on a parasol. My parents both walked me down the aisle, as did my husband's parents. We had 11 attendants on each side, two sets of flower girls and ring bearers, and a maid on honor and matron of honor! They all actually walked down the aisle coupled with each other...Different for the time....

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I walked down the aisle to "Evergreen".... One of my favorite songs at the time.... I had a guitar player and someone who sung it for me... We had recorded instrumental music playing beforehand. My husband later left the cassette tape in a car we traded in... So much for that!! :(

There are so many fun items that can be added to your wedding day, or keepsakes created to remind you of that day. Where were these items 28 years ago when I got married? We just had the basic things, your wedding dress, flowers, napkins, invitations, and that is about it....No save the dates, bridal hangers, signature plates or canvases, and nothing like the street signs that I sell now.

These metal signs can be created with just about any sayings that you want. It seems to be popular to have the bride and grooms name and the wedding date placed on it. You could even have just the family name on it if you wanted to.

Affordable Home Decor Projects for Newlyweds

If you are a newlywed and are looking for an affordable way to brighten up your apartment or house, using vinyl decals is the way to go. They are great when you are not allowed to paint too. All you have to do is pull them off when you are ready to move!

I had been saving items for a few years to add to my kitchen once I found the time to paint it. Right before Christmas I decided this was the time to get it done. Finally!!

So, I began this project by placing a fresh coat of paint on the walls. If it were not for the need to paint, I could have just started by applying the decals to the painted walls. Unfortunately, there was a need to paint so that is where I started.

The theme for my newly decorated kitchen was going to be a "Coffee" related one. So, I took a look at the items I had already collected, and decided what to add in vinyl. The first place I started was with the Coffee picture. I added words to fill in the space around the picture.

After that, the surrounding wall space seemed blank. A few years earlier I had purchased a few hand towels with coffee sayings on them. I decided to go with that lead and had sayings created for two of the walls that were opposite of each other.

Once those two walls were finished, I looked at the fourth wall and decided it too needed a little something. I began to research other coffee related words that would be found at coffee shops. They did not have to be coffee, but words that you would see if you were in a shop. This is where I found the four words used on the final wall.

The last vinyl that was added were a few polka dot coffee mugs. They were randomly placed to add a little touch the walls below. These coffee mugs are so cute!

After this was all finished it was time to put out the rest of the accessories collected. I had been working on mosaic pieces for weeks prior to the re-decorating.
A few are used as display pieces and a few are used as trivets. I then added a few hand towels that I had saved. Now I can use my coffee themed mitts too!

It is still a work in progress as there are more accessories to add, back splashes to install, and a few other minor items to be finished. For the most part it is complete and ready to enjoy, and just in time for the holidays!

Missing in Action

I realize it is not the best way to run a blog, but life has been crazy. I have been missing in action due to the amount of business I have had come in after the first of the year. On top of that I am trying to design and create a few other products, in hopes of offering them to you all soon.

I also had a nice visit with my daughter who came in for a week long visit. She lives in South Carolina. Due to her work schedule, she was not able to come home for Christmas. This was kind of her belated Christmas week!

Hopefully, things will continue to get back to normal. I am striving to become more organized too. Wish me luck on that one!!

Affordable Home Decor Projects for Newlyweds

I got up early today, so I decided to write the final part of this three part series. I did not want to keep you waiting for too long to see the end results. I would love to hear your comments after reading this.

I think this is the fun part. I really have missed doing creative things to my walls. I have been so busy the past few years with my business, that my house has been placed on the back burner. For some this may seem like work, but for me it was so much fun. I am hoping to be able to provide more projects like this in 2011.

The next step involves working with drywall mud as I call it. It is better to start with a small amount and add more if you need it. You will throw out what is left when you are finished.

Place a small amount in some type of container that will fit the spatula that you will be working with. Add a small amount of water and begin to mix. It is better to start with a little water and add more if needed. You want the drywall mud to be easy to work with, but not runny.

Before I began to apply the mud to the wall, I taped off a space that would be painted black for the firebox. Using the spatula I randomly began to apply the drywall mud to the wall in between the wood and the tape. It is almost like icing a cake, but doing this to your wall. I tried to keep it to a thin coat, covering the walls, but not too thick. This has to dry before you can paint it. If you put on too thick of a coat it will take longer to dry.

After you are finished coating the walls make sure you clean your tools. The drywall mud will harden, making it difficult to clean if not. I would also dry the tools in an attempt to prevent rust.

Once the drywall mud has been applied, you need to allow it to dry completely before painting it. I went on to the next step which consisted of a faux painting treatment to the wood. My goal was to make the cheap wood look like good wood. I left the painting of the wall until the next day. This allowed enough drying time.

One of the biggest decisions I had was to decide on the color of the wall for the fireplace front. I decided to bring in the color from the front room, tying the rooms together. I like to paint with a brush, so that is how I applied the paint. You could use a roller if you prefer.

I painted the firebox black. After it was dry I painted a scroll screen over it using metallic paints, gold, silver, and copper. This gave it a nice finishing
touch. It is now finished. On to the accessorizing part!

I could not wait to add the items to the mantel. I painted the sunflowers on the canvas and flameless candles, bringing it all together. This part is so much fun.
If you cannot afford to do it all at once, add a little at a time. That is okay too.

So, for around a $100 or less, you can really add a statement to your room. If you are like me, use old paint that you have leftover. We had to purchase the wood, but there is such a variety to choose from. You do not have to use expensive wood to make it look nice. Get creative.... It can be so much fun!

Sorry it has taken me so long to continue on with this story. Life happens and business got crazy with the holidays. I have been excited to proceed with my project so that you can see the final. However, with that being said, you will still have to wait to see the end results.

Once you have gathered all of your tools and items for this project, you will begin to assemble the faux fireplace. You will need a level to make sure you are staying straight when you build it. Begin by attaching the flat piece of wood to the wall. On top of that piece you will secure the top piece of wood that will be used as a shelf.

You will continue to add the pieces until the top part of the fire place is complete. This project does require a table saw or miter saw actual works the best. It helps if you have experience cutting wood too!

The next part of the project entails securing the wood that will outline the edges of your fireplace. If you remember from the first post, this pieces were actually what is used around a door. Pretty clever, right?

At this point the building portion is complete. The next step will be to add the color and spice to truly make it a focal point. Some might even think of it as a conversation piece!

Affordable Home Decor Projects for Newlyweds

There are so many ways to be creative and give your living space a touch of your personality, without breaking the bank. Some are easy, while others may require a little more skill. With that being said, I want to share the start of a project I am doing in my own home.

I have lived in my home for about 4 1/2 years. I have always wanted to create a faux fireplace in my dining room. For the past 4 1/2 years I have had a ficus tree painting on my walls. I recently painted over it and gave my dining room a fresh coat of paint. The color I painted with is very similar to the color it was before. No worries, the theme is going to be entirely different when I am finished.

I was going to do more of a faux painting for the entire fireplace, but then got to thinking how nice it would be to mix it up with some wood, plaster, and paint....I love mixed media and what a great way to create it.

This first part of our process was of course repainting the dining room. That has been completed. Now we are ready to move on the the creation of the fire place. I am so excited!!

I knew before even painting where my fireplace would be located. Take a look at your space and decide where you want to place it. Once this is decided, take measurements to see what the width of the piece will be as well as the finished height. Our fireplace mantel will be 5' wide and 5' high. Yours can be larger or smaller depending on what fits in to your space.

We made a trip to our local hardware store. We looked at all of our wood options to create the fireplace mantel and the sides. There is a lot to choose from. It is just a matter of what you like and how much you want to spend. This part is really up to you.

The top board of our mantel is going to be Select Pine. It is going to be approximately 5' x 1" x 66" . The board that will be flat up against the wall is also Select Pine. It will be approximately 1" x 48", not entirely sure of the length yet.

The decorative piece that will be attached under the top board and against the flat wall, is a piece of crown molding. There are many styles and thicknesses to choose from. I wanted to go with wider piece, but you might decide the thinner is better for you. This too is a matter of preference.

Next we looked at our options for the wood that would frame out the sides of the fire place. We ended up with a door framing set that will be the sides of our fireplace, including the decorative pieces that will be placed near the floor.

The next step in our process will be making the cuts and then assembling it on the wall.

Wire Wrapping a Spoon

I thought this would be a great Instructable to share with you. This is an easy way to fancy up the serving pieces at your wedding reception. It would could be a nice favor for your guests. Take a look and see what you think!

Wire wrapping silverware is a great way to add color to your silverware when you are entertaining. This can be done just on your serving pieces or all of the silverware. It even makes a great gift giving idea!

Items needed:

Spoon or other silverware of your choice.
Wire - I used 20 gauge silver plated wire.
Beads - Any of your choice that have holes large enough for the wire to fit through.
Cutter
Needle Nose Pliers / Tools to make swirls in the wire (optional)

Let the fun begin!

After you have cut a piece of wire to wrap your spoon with, turn the back of the spoon looking at you. Place a straight piece of wire against the back of the spoon.

Once the wire is in place, begin to wrap around 2-3 times where the curved part of the spoon meets the stem.

I like to add beads just to the front of the spoon, but you can rotate and add to the back as well. Add your first bead here. Adjust it so that it fits nicely across the front of the spoon. Once in place wrap at least 2-3 times and add the next bead.

Once you have added all of the beads that you want, I turn the spoon over and run the excess wire down the back of the spoon, bringing the wire back up and running it back down a few times. Wrapping it around the back wire like this will help secure the wire.

Once you have completed wrapping the wire around a few of the wires in the back, I bring the wire back up and wrap it around the top of the spoon again. At this point I would cut off the excess wire, leaving about 1/2" to 1" of wire remaining. Once you reach this point, you can take one of your tools and make little swirls out of the wire for additional decor, or tuck the wires in under the wrapped wire. Use the needle nose pliers to flatten any sharp wires sticking out.

Now your spoon is ready to be used.

"Just Married" Car Window Decal

I am so excited about my new product line that is coming out. I hope all of you will enjoy it just as much as I do. I am going to be offering removable vinyl decals, signs, and more.

I just listed my first item today in my Etsy shop. The first one is a "Just Married" car window decal. What a nice option as opposed to using shoe polish or window paint. It is less messy and can endure the weather. You do not have to be in a hurry to remove it. When you are, it is easy to remove.

German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Northern Sacramento Valley

I was contacted early this year by Lynn, of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Northern Sacramento Valley. She wanted me to paint a couple of wine glasses for their upcoming event in October. They would be used in a gift basket, to be given as a prize.

The contest went as follows: In the little bags were wine bottle toppers. If you won your category, you got a wine chiller. If you won the next category, you got the basket with your wine glasses in it. She made padded glass holders to match the other items, so it all went together.

She contacted me yesterday to share photos of the event, so I could see how the glasses I painted were used. It is a pleasure to see your work being used. What a nice surprise!

Personalized Painted Canvas Pictures

I just listed a new item I am offering in my shop. I wanted to take a few minutes to share it with you and get your thoughts. I painted two canvases with kind of a Tuscany theme. I created a personalized wine label for the wine bottle. Placed the wine bottle with two wine glasses and plastic grapes to set the mood.

Once everything was in place, I took a few snapshots to use for my posting on Etsy. I edited the photo and placed a saying on the picture in the open space to the right. It was my intention to leave that space open just for that very reason.

My thoughts are that a customer could place an order to have the wine bottle personalized with their names and wedding date. They could have the saying I created or add one of the own, if they wanted. Once I have the pictures in place, I would send the customer the photos. They could size, print, and hang the picture themselves.

It would only be $10 and no shipping of course, since they are provided for online. What a great keepsake! What do you think?
